After his invention Holmes began the manufacturing wreckers and the towing of equipments for sales to the automotive garages so that any one interested in disable autos or wrecked towing. His first Manufacturing facility was the shop on street and market which was a few blocks from museum.
His business grew at the auto industry and expanded eventually for the products earned a worldwide reputation for its quality as well as performance. Holmes died in 1943 and he was succeeded by his son. Holmes Junior then ran the company until he retired in year 1973 at that Year Company was sold to the Dover Corporation. In same year founder's grandson left company and started his new one named Century Wreckers. He built manufacturing facility nearby Ooltewah, and then he quickly rivaled original company with hydraulically powered.
At that time assets of both companies were bought by the Miller industries which also bought some other wrecker manufacturers. Then Miller retained the century facility at Ooltewah where both Holmes and century wreckers are manufactured presently. After that miller also made Challenger Wreckers. Most of the automobile companies made in 1900's as a mechanical genius joined the financial investors to build own version.
In 20th century fledging automobile company industry has already done much more and exists as well so that was not easy for any company to make and proves it selves. Some of the companies at that time have good management and a solid sales organization as well as a miracle mass of the production.
