I need a few piece recommendations for cello.?
Hi, I am auditioning into the Herberger College of the Arts at Arizona State and I have to find some pieces following these guidelines.
Cello
* An etude.
* Two works contrasting in tempo and style.
I googled a few etudes and I found "Ten American Cello Etudes" of Aaron Minsky and "Standard Cello Repertoire" would either of these be up to standards for an audition?
Also a few pieces. I am sure they don't want to here Bachs cello suites, but I know i can't bust out Haydn's Cello concerto in C. Or maybe I'm mistaken.

Do you have a private teacher for cello? I certainly hope you do, seeing that you're thinking about auditioning for a music school.
He/she would be much more aware of what you should play for this audition than any of us. When I first decided to audition for music schools, my violin teacher and I spent the better part of a lesson going through the things that I'd learned and deciding which would be best to play for an audition. First of all, make your teacher aware that you want to audition, and then ask for his/her advice on what to play.
My advice is, though, play things you already know right now. Even though college auditions are still months away in some cases, you shouldn't learn anything new for them. You want to show them a polished work - not a "rough draft," if you know what I mean. If you know some of the Bach cello suites already, then there's no reason not to do those.
