natural vs synthetic paint brush dilemma?
i'm taking an art class and my teacher said he doesnt want us to buy synthetic brushes for when we do acrylic painting, b/c they give "less control". however, i don't feel comfortable using natural bristle brushes (i'm opposed to using animal hair). what should i do? do you think he'd notice that i'm using synthetic brushes? (he walks around the classroom and watches us paint).
i also didn't tell him how i felt at the time, b/c i thought it would upset/annoy him.
i've used synthetic brushes for an acrylic painting before and i thought it worked fine for me.

I had the same sort of problem. We weren't suppose to take our own supplies to the art class but all the brushes there were made from animal hair.
I explained my point of view to my teacher and asked if it would be ok to buy and use my own brushes. He didn't have a problem with it at all.
You should try telling him why you don't want to use the brushes and that you've painted very well with synthetic brushes before. Maybe ask for a chance to prove that you can paint just fine with synthetic.
