Oil Paint Cadmium

Toxic paint and other art products?

My art teacher once briefly said that red paint (acrylic, glaze, oil...) is hard to produce because most demand the use of cadmium. Today, I was shopping for some acrylic paint and found Liquitex Basic has a paint called "Cadmium red"...and I'm just wondering if that's just a name or they're saying something about the paint. And what other art products can be harmful?
She said cadmium is toxic

the best reds use lead and cadmium, these are toxic, the paint industries have been working to eliminate most toxic metals from art Products, but to make colors you need certain metals, so don't lick your brushes, and don't let in touch your skin of course a few times won't harm you, but exposure over an artist's life time could be harmful
