Would you need just basic water colors to do?
Bob Ross method of painting? I can do pretty good clouds and mountains with online paint programs, but by hand on an actual canvas, I can't really do it very well.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestons for the best kinds of paints to buy to try his method of paintings..
"kkk" I reported you a-hole.
*sigh* yahoo will probably not even care.
Thank you for helping report that jerk off. I actually just like Bob Ross's method for painting, he makes painting water and trees look so simple, it's fasinating to watch. Not like I'd ever be as good as him, or even try, but I want to know what kinds of paints I should use to make things blend the way they do in his paintings.
Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paint can achieve ALL PAINTING STYLES ranging from REALISTIC to ABSTRACT artwork. Acrylic, oil, and watercolor paint all have PROS and CONS when painting therefore you must decide which CONS you are willing to deal with.
Bob Ross paints with traditional oil paint but I recommend you using Water Mixable Oil Paint because it is easier to use for a beginner. Oil paint will give you alot of time for the blending techniques used in painting clouds/landscapes. Acrylic paint can also be used because it has the capability of resembling an oil painting. I do NOT recommend using watercolor paint.
OIL PAINT:
1. Expensive Paint To Buy. Easier To Fix Mistakes.
2. Slow Drying Which Allows Alot Of Time To Work On The Painting.
3. Solvents Used In Oil Painting Have Some Toxic Properties.
4. Oil Paintings Can Become Darker, Yellow, Brittle, And Crack With Time.
5. Must Paint "Fat Over Lean" Technique To Help Prevent A Cracked And Less Durable Paint Film.
6. There is a new type of oil paint called Water Miscible/Water Mixable/Water Soluble Oil Paint. These paints are similiar to regular oil paint but they can be thinned and cleaned with water (not solvents), plus they dry faster and clean up is easier.
ACRYLIC PAINT:
1. Affordable Paint To Buy. Fast Drying. Easier To Fix Mistakes.
2. Durable. Stable. Will Not Yellow Over Time.
3. For THIN acrylic applications, buy acrylic paint with a LOW VISCOSITY or labeled FLUID ACRYLIC or SOFT BODY.
4. Can Resemble A Watercolor Painting By Diluting The Low or High Viscosity Acrylic Paint With Water Or Acrylic Liquid Medium.
5. For THICK acrylic applications, buy acrylic paint with a HIGH VISCOSITY or labeled HEAVY BODY.
6. Mix a thick acrylic medium with low or high viscosity acrylic paint to thicken it.
7. Can Resemble An Oil Painting By Using Paint Straight Fom The Tube, or for Thick Applications or Impasto Techniques.
8. Water Soluble That Allows Easier Clean Up Without Using Chemicals.
9. When Paint Dries It Is Not Re-Hydratable And Is Generally Non-Removable Therefore You Can Layer Numerous Paint Colors On Top Of Each Other Without Disturbing Or Lifting The Other Paint Colors Underneath It.
10. Fast Drying. If paint dries to fast for you, mix slow drying acrylic medium with acrylic paint, or use Golden Open Acrylics or Chroma Atelier Interactive Artists Acrylics.
WATERCOLOR:
1. Affordable Paint To Buy. Fast Drying. Harder To Fix Mistakes.
2. Transparent Paint That Allows You To See The White Of The Paper Below The Paint.
3. White Paint Doesn't Exist Therefore You Must Use The White Of The Paper To Get White Color. (You only use white watercolor paint for mixing other colors).
4. Should Paint From Light to Dark Because Adding Light Colors Later Can Be Difficult.
5. Generally Dries To A Different Color Than It Appears When Wet.
6. Water Soluble That Allows Easier Clean Up Without Using Chemicals.
7. When Paint Dries It Is Re-Hydratable Therefore It Is Harder To Layer Numerous Paint Colors On Top Of Each Other.
