can I use oil pastel fixative on a coloured pencil drawing to add shine?
I have this fixative http://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/Sprays-and-Aerosols/Sennelier-Artist-Sprays.htm?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping however I'm not sure if it would be suited for pencil drawings, can you tell me if it will be okay to use it?
the easiest solution that I would have to say: try it and see what happens. Do a quick drawing with your colored pencils and try using the fixative and see what it does to it. After the fixative dries, you should be able to rub your finger across one of the colored pencil marks and not leave a smudge.
I have no reason to believe that something designed for pastels would also not work for graphite (pastels are much softer so they need a stronger fixative), but you never really know until you test it out. Try using different amounts of fixative on different parts of your test drawing to see what the fixative does when more or less is added.
