Can you clearcoat graffiti?
I got my good friend a toolbox for his birthday and decided to personalize it a bit by getting a friend to graffiti the back of it. He used two types of spray paint; Montana and Ironlak. I work at a autobody shop and wanted to know if i could use regular car clear to clear coat the graffiti to prevent the weather from ruining the art.
Ok I found out that the paint used on the toolbox is enamel so whatever you do ,do not use a clear lacquer. That will destroy the paint job.But you can use an Acrylic enamel to clear coat the painted surface of the toolbox.
Lacquer destroys dried enamel paint.
But enamel paint can be put on top of dried lacquer paint.
So you are ok as long as the clear you are using is not a lacquer based paint.
